If we have not felt the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, as of yet, in our parish, certainly we did this past week.
Last Wednesday was to be Confirmation Day and Saturday, First Holy Communion—both days of great import in the life of our parish. Sadly, we had to postpone these great celebrations because of the need for social distancing so as to impede the spread of the virus. Be assured that we are working with the diocese to make new dates for the celebrations of the great sacraments as soon as we are able. Thank you for your patience in this regard.
In this week’s bulletin or forwarded to you via E-mail or on our parish website, you will find a Census Form for you to renew your registration with Assumption Parish. This process is necessary because it has been 15 years at least since we last had a parish census and, with the passage of that long a time, addresses, phone numbers, E-mail addresses and other pertinent information change. Many times I have tried to contact people only to find that they have moved or their number has been changed, mostly because their land line was abandoned. This is a great opportunity to get things straight again. Please take the time to fill the census form when you receive it. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If there is any pastoral need that you may have, please let us know on the form. Thank you for your response.
I would like to express my thanks to a group of 12 ladies of the parish who called every parishioner we could to see if we could meet any needs during this time of social distancing.
We are now in the process of addressing these needs as they came to us. It was a good thing to keep in touch with those we were able to reach.
Be assured of our prayers and concern for you as we live in seclusion together.
