As I write this column, I notice that there is just one week left before our parish picnic.  Behind the scenes, much is being done in preparation for this great event.  I sure hope to see all of you there at some time during the festivities that celebrate us as a parish family.  Mary in her glorious Assumption has been so good to us and, as is traditional, we will pay her our tribute to begin the picnic festivities.

We will begin by processing with the image of the Blessed Virgin at 11:00am on Sunday morning, August 14th.  Mass will begin at 11:30am.  During Mass, the blessing of flowers will take place.  We ask you to bring fresh flowers to Mass this day to carry in procession and place at the Virgin Mary’s feet during the celebration of her feast day.

To make this event a success, we need your help.  With everyone working together, God will bless our efforts at celebrating the protection of Mary that we enjoy as a parish.  Thank you for all the help you’ve given thus far.

With summer comes vacation time.  We welcome all those who visit our church from out of town and pray that their experience with us is a pleasant and spiritually fruitful one.  Let us not forget that it is our duty to assist at Mass on Sunday even on vacation.  Also, the parish needs your support even in the summer when you are away.  Just like your homes, our bills come in and need to be paid.  We as a parish utterly depend on your generosity.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter and for all the ways you help Assumption Parish.
