February 5, 2023
Please mark your calendars for the evenings of February 19th, 20th & 21st as we welcome Fr. Joseph Tuscan, OFM Cap. To preach our Parish Mission ‘Repent and Believe’. There will be a 7:00pm Conference with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament on Sunday and Monday evenings.
On Tuesday evening at 7:00pm there will be a Mass with the Conference. Each evening of the Mission there will be Confessions heard from 6:30pm and again after the Conference. With the onset of the Lenten Season this will be an optimal way for us to prepare our hearts to enter this sacred time. Come and do something good for yourself and your spiritual life.
Fr. Tuscan has agreed to be the speaker for the Annual Altar & Rosary’s ‘Day of Recollection’ held each Ash Wednesday here at Assumption. The day begins with a talk, and a question and answer session at 9:00am. Lunch is at 11:30am and must be reserved and paid for to participate. After lunch there are Confessions and then Mass at 1:00pm to conclude the day. This is a good way to set the tone for Lent.
Next week we begin the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal. These funds go to many worthy causes that are sponsored by the Diocese of Cleveland. Many people benefit from the services that Catholic Charities provides, especially the CYO athletic programs in the parishes, youth ministry, the Holy Family Hospice, and many other social ministries. I have often said that the Catholic church has a charitable network second to none. This is because it is built upon the generosity of faithful Catholics like you. Our share in this appeal for 2023 is $136,310.00. This is a great amount, to be sure, yet please find it in your hearts to be as generous as possible. Thank you for your support of Catholic Charities.
May the Good Lord who is never outdone in generosity, reward you for your kindness.
