Now that the festive time is concluded for a while, it is a good time to do some winter housekeeping.  First of all, a note of appreciation: During the last several months, I’ve witnessed the generosity of our parishioners on many fronts.  From those who made the extra sacrifice to increase their Sunday offerings to those who came together to make the various fundraisers, especially ‘We Give Catholic’ a success you certainly show that Assumption is made of good people.  When there is a need, Assumption rises to the occasion.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the ways you show your love for Assumption parish.

As part of St. Andrew Abbey’s celebration of its centennial it is sponsoring a pilgrimage to Italy ‘In the Footsteps of Our Founder and Patron’.  Our founder is St. Benedict and our Patron, St. Andrew Svorad.  This is the reason for the extension of the pilgrimage to Slovakia.  This is where St. Andrew Svorad was a monk and hermit.  From July 2nd—July 11th, 2022, we will travel throughout Italy, visiting the various sites where St. Benedict lives and established the Order as well as Rome and Vatican City.  From July 11th—July 15th, we will explore the cities of Nitra and Trencin where St. Andrew Svorad and his disciples, Benedict Skalka lived their monastic lives.

For particulars see the insert in this week and last week’s bulletin.  It has been at least 15 years since our parish went on an overseas pilgrimage.  Please join us on a joy filed pilgrimage to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of our Abbey.
