Traditionally during the month of May, it is our custom to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.  The custom began toward the end of the eighteenth century, a zealous Jesuit priest, Fr. Lalomia, started among the students of the Roman college of his Society the practice of dedicating May to Our Lady.  The devotion, which others had promoted in a small way, soon spread to other Jesuit colleges and to the entire Roman Catholic Church and since that time it has been a regular practice of Catholic Life.  All are welcome to join in praying the rosary after daily Mass each morning.

We would like to express our thanks to the Colantuono family who donated the beautiful seating arrangement on the south side of our church.  They are dedicated to the memory of their daughter, Silvana.  May God bless you for your generosity and may Silvana have a full share in the heavenly kingdom.

Because the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord is celebrated on Sunday in the state of Ohio, we are celebrating this Feast today instead of last Thursday.  The traditional day for the Feast of the Ascension, last Thursday, is the day to begin the Novena to the Holy Spirit, the oldest novena in the Church’s history.  This Novena was conducted by the Virgin Mary and the apostles at the direction of our Blessed Lord at the Ascension.  Please take some time to pray to the Holy Spirit in preparation for the great feast of Pentecost.

We are looking for 4 individuals to serve on the Parish Pastoral Council, a group of interested parishioners who advise the pastor.  We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the Lower Rectory Hall.  Interested parties are welcome to come to our meeting on Thursday, May 20th at 7:00pm in the Lower Rectory Hall.
