Jesus reminds his fellow countrymen that the day will come when everything they hold dear will be taken away from them.  The Jews had great pride in the temple because it was a most visible sign of their unity as a people and thus had a valued place in all of their hearts.  As sobering as it was for them to hear Jesus’ words to them, so it is for us.  All of us are attached to people, places and things, all of which come to an end at one time or another. I think all of us can remember things and places that once were but now are no more. Especially is this true of the people that we have come to know and love over the years. All things come to an end.

At the same time, we have to exercise stewardship of the people, places and things that are dear to us. Relationships have to be cultivated; places and things need to be maintained if they are to last for a long period of time. Stewardship is care taken to ensure the long-term good of what we value. This is where support enters the picture. Our level of support, when it is to the best of our ability, is a good barometer of the esteem we have toward what we are supporting.

Each year, we are provided an opportunity to render such support through We Give Catholic, a full day of concentrated giving that lends valuable support to what we hold dear and has a special place in our hearts. The proceeds from the We Give Catholic initiative remains with-in the parish to assist in strengthening ministries, and providing funds for capital improvements. This year, some of the improvements include the replacement of the steps on the north side of the church and the addition of a ramp so that those who face physical challenges can enter the church from that side, Youth Ministry enhancement, Family Center stage upgrade and refurbishment of the fellowship room.

In the past several years, we have accomplished much through your generosity, our beautiful church being a prime example. As I thank you wholeheartedly for our past support, I encourage you to open your hearts to us again. Much can be accomplished if we work together.
Join us on Tuesday, November 29th in supporting the needs of Assumption through We Give Catholic & accept my heartfelt thanks for all you do for Assumption.
