October 29, 2023

Please remember that this Tuesday evening and Wednesday, November 1 is the Feast of All Saints and a holyday of obligation. This means that we must assist at Mass as on Sunday. Masses for the Holyday are: 4:00 p.m. on October 31; and 6:30, 9:00 a.m. noon and 7:00 p.m. on November 1. This 9:00 Mass on November 1 always has the added feature of the third grade class bringing the models of their patron saints as part of the entrance procession and placing them on the altar rail during Mass. This is truly something to see.

The next day, November 2nd, is the Feast of All Souls. Here at Assumption we will celebrate the three traditional Masses in observance of this day at 6:30 a.m., 8:30a.m. and 7:00p.m.

On Saturday, November 4, at 11:00 a.m. we will have a special commemorative Mass for all those who have passed into eternal life from our parish this past year. Please make every effort to assist at Mass on these sacred days of the Church's Year of Grace.

During the month of November, it is important for us to pray for the souls in purgatory. Through our Masses, prayers and good works on their behalf, they are brought more speedily to the heavenly kingdom. The book of Maccabees reminds us that it is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead in order that they be loosed from their sins. Let us especially remember the dead for whom no one prays. They may be the ones praying for us when our time comes and we find ourselvevs in their position. Have a good week.
