It gladdened my heart this past Sunday afternoon when so many of our parishioners gathered for the Appreciation Cookout. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was a bright, sunny day. Everyone present was enjoying themselves; everyone worked together to make it a joyful day.
I would like to express my thanks to Jack Murrin and his committee of Ray Freas, Jane Luke, Shawn Phillips, and Al Pytel. We also express our gratitude to Augie’s Pizza for the food, Handel’s Ice Cream for their treats, All Saints Credit Union and others who sponsored door prizes and other items that made the day fun. Our Scouts from Troop 810 and other youths from the parish and their parents assisted in serving the food and making the day run smoothly. Most importantly, we thank you for all you do for Assumption. May the dear Lord bless you for your generous kindness.
Next Saturday afternoon, October 2, we welcome Abbot Gary and the monks of St. Andrew Abbey to host their Annual Abbey Benefit. Abbot Gary will be the celebrant of the 4:00 p.m. Mass joined by the other monks from the Abbey. The Abbey Benefit will be held in our Family Center. We wish our Benedictine Community the best of success as they pay honor to Abbot Clement who served the Abbey for 68 years as a professed monk, 62 years as a priest of Jesus Christ, and 7 years as Abbot of the Benedictine Community.
All pet lovers, join us on Saturday, October 2, at 12:00 noon for the Annual Blessing of Pets in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. We will gather in the parking lot in front of the entrance to the Family Center. Please have your pets on a leash or in a cage, especially if they have trouble in crowds. We look forward to blessing your pets this Saturday at 12:00 noon.
