First Communion

The Seven Sacraments are gifts from Jesus Christ Himself for the Sanctification of His Church.  "They are Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick.  The Seven Sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of the Christian life;  they give birth and increase, healing and Mission to the Christian's life of faith.  There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life."  CCC1210

Preparation for receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist in Grade 2 is a two year process.

Children are required to be enrolled in Grade 1 at Assumption / PSR in order to be properly formed to receive Sacraments in Grade 2.

In Grade 1, children learn about their identity as children of God through the Sacrament of Baptism, the basic prayers of our faith, the Mass, and what it means to live as Jesus taught us.

First Communion is celebrated in the second semester of Grade 2.

PSR parents attend 3 classes/activities with their children to prepare for First Communion.

There is a First Communion Retreat that second graders attend before their First Communion.

First Communion Mass is celebrated at the end of the second semester.

An original Baptism Certificate is required on registration in Grade 2 PSR.
