April 6, 2025

During the Fifth Week of Lent and forward, our focus is solely on Jesus’ redemptive work of suffering and dying on the cross for our sins and his resurrection on the third day. I would ask that all of us make a special effort to maintain a reverent silence in church, especially after Mass on Sunday. If you need to converse, please do so in the rear of the church rather than in the aisles and do so in a lower voice. There are those who would like to spend time in prayer during these holy days. Please give them the sacred space they need to do this. After all, the church is sacred space because it is the house of God. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please mark your calendars for all the Holy Week services: Confessions during Holy Week will be Monday afternoon, April 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, April 16 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Holy Thursday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Confessions will be only by appointment after this time. Please make good use of the times made available for you to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is plenty of advance notice for you to do your Easter planning. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

As for services during Holy Week, Wednesday evening there will be Way of the Cross devotions at 6:30 p.m. and Tenebrae at 7:00 p.m. Thursday Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be at 7:00 p.m. The Liturgical Service for Good Friday in our church will begin at 3:00 p.m. and Way of the Cross will be at 6:30 p.m. Services for Holy Saturday will begin with the Blessing of Easter Food at 1 and 2:00 p.m. The Easter Vigil will commence at 9:00 p.m. Please note that the time of the Easter Vigil on the folder in your envelope packets and the wall calendars is wrong. THE EASTER VIGIL BEGINS AT 9:00 PM. There will be no Perpetual Help Novena, Confessions (except by appointment), or 4:00 Liturgy for Sunday on this day. Also, there will be no 6:00 p.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. Please make every effort to participate fully in these days where we celebrate our salvation and redemption in Christ.
