Our Need for Redemption
Our Need for Redemption
DEAR PARENTS AND FAMILY,
The Edge Night began with parents joining their child in creating “Credo Catchers” and
completing prayerful prompts. A short teaching followed on Jesus as our redeemer. Then your
son or daughter created a skit with a redemption arc, using the “Credo Catchers” as puppets
to act it out. The Edge Night finished with a time of Adoration and Reconciliation. Your child’s
weekly challenge is to pray with their family every night this week. This Edge Night concludes
the “Unfolded” series.
MAIN IDEAS
• God did not abandon us when we fell into darkness as a human race but, instead, sent His
beloved Son to redeem us from the consequences of sin.
• Jesus of Nazareth took on human flesh and dwelt among us.
• Knowing the story of our redemption helps us embrace God’s invitation into communion
with Him forever.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE
“But when the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the
law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”
(Galatians 4:4-5)
CATECHISM REFERENCE
“After his fall, man was not abandoned by God. On the contrary, God calls him and in a mysterious
way heralds the coming victory over evil and his restoration from his fall. This passage in
Genesis is called the Protoevangelium (“first gospel”): the first announcement of the Messiah
and Redeemer, of a battle between the serpent and the Woman, and of the final victory of a
descendant of hers.” (CCC 410)
