It was a wonderful experience hosting Bishop Michael Woost last Sunday at Mass at the luncheon that followed. The Mass was lovely with the music, flowers on the altar, all the people who served as ministers of the altar, but especially Bishop Woost and his thought-provoking homily that made the occasion truly special.
The reason for the Bishop's visit was a new practice of the diocese to visit each parish once a year, either to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation or to make a pastoral visit to greet the faithful in that parish. I would like to sincerely thank those who extended the effort to make this day special: Assumption Music Ministry, the ministers of the altar, Altar & Rosary for the lovely flowers, the Knights of Columbus, the monthly breakfast social club, Augie's Catering, and our DRE Mary Zabrecky who with volunteers from the Confirmation class, assisted in serving the luncheon.
Today we begin the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal. These funds go to many worthy causes that are sponsored by the Diocese of Cleveland. Many people are the beneficiaries of the services that Catholic Charities provides, especially the CYO athletic programs in the parishes,s youth ministry, and many other social services. I have often said that the Catholic Church has a charitable network that is second to none. This is because it is built upon the generosity of faithful Catholics like you. Times are difficult, to be sure. Nevertheless, please find it in your hearts to be as generous as possible. Thank you for your help for God's people in need. God reward you for your kindness.
