With midsummer comes the time to prepare for the resurgence of the programs that had a summer hiatus: OCIA is one of these programs. The acronym for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, the OCIA is a process by which those who were never baptized or those Christians who are part of another denomination become members of the Catholic faith. The entire process; indeed, each facet of the process, involves the Catholic community as a means of strengthening those inquiring into the Catholic Church to provide the moral and spiritual support they need to complete their faith journey.

Many of you have seen the rituals performed during the Lenten Season and the Sacraments of Initiation conferred during the Easter Vigil. However, the process begins with instructions which begin around Labor Day in a group setting facilitated by a team which forms a small community that lends support for the person inquiring into the Catholic Faith. This year, the OCIA process will begin this September in the Fellowship Room and continues each Tuesday evening till a few weeks after Easter.

Won't you consider learning more about your faith? Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic? If so, drop a note with your name, phone number or E-mail address or call Fr. Louis at (440) 526 1177 ext. 220. You'll be glad you did.

In just a few weeks we begin our Summer Picnic/Festival. Please make every effort to get involved in making this venture a success. Please remember to RSVP. It is my ardent hope to see you there. Thanks for all you do for Assumption.
