The life of our church is based on the celebration and profession of our faith. For the faith to remain vibrant, it must grow and increase in membership. Do you know that there are many people who would join our faith but never do so because they never receive that personal invitation that means so much to them? What can we do about it? Think of people you know who have never been baptized for some reason or other, or who are Christians of another denomination who may have a keen interest in becoming Catholic, but never pursued it. These are people you can steer to the OCIA program here at Assumption. The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of instruction and formation by which those wishing to join the Catholic Faith are guided and nurtured in a community setting into full initiation in the faith. Contact Fr. Louis at ext.228 for more information.

Our Parish Picnic is in a couple of weeks. Please do your best to purchase a raffle ticket. Be sure to participate in some way in this great annual event. Many people are working hard to make this year’s picnic better than ever.

As we celebrate our Parish Feast day with festivities, it's a good idea to prepare spiritually for the Assumption. To make this possible, there will be a Parish Mission from August 11-14 given by Rev. George Knab, OMI. There will be a talk and refreshments after the 8:30 morning Mass and evening services each day at 7:00pm of the mission. The last evening, August 14 will end with an evening Mass. THIS MASS WILL SERVE AS THE VIGIL MASS FOR THE HOLYDAY OF OBLIGATION. THERE WILL BE NO 4:00 P.M. MASS ON AUGUST 14TH. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THOSE WHO AVAIL THEMSELVES OF THE 4:00 MASS FOR THE VIGIL OF A HOLYDAY. It is my ardent hope to see as many of you as possible at the mission. Everyone needs spiritual rejuvenation. Here is a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Please remember that God never takes a vacation from us, even when we take a much-needed rest. Be sure to get to Mass on Sunday. We ask God’s blessing on all our endeavors. We have a duty to give God public acclaim for his many gifts and undeserved favors that we enjoy. Please be sure to give God what is his due. May the rest of your summer be filled with the blessings of rest, relaxation and recollection.
