August 11, 2024

This weekend is one of celebration as we gather to observe our parish's patronal feast day - the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our faith tells us that Mary, when her life on earth was completed, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory. Because of her unique relationship to Christ, she was granted this singular privilege. It is our hope that, at the end of time when our bodies join our souls in the afterlife, we may like our Blessed Lady, be present in both our bodies and souls in heaven, our true home.

Thursday, August 15, is the actual Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady and a Holyday of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on August 14, and 6:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., noon and 7:00 p.m. on August 15. Make every effort to be here to honor Mary on this her special day.

Also, take some time today to join us in celebrating at our Assumption Parish Picnic. There is good company, good food, and enjoyable things to do for everyone. It would be splendid if we had 100% participation. Take some time to enjoy yourselves with your fellow parishioners. You'll be glad you did.

As we reach the mid-point of August, our thoughts turn to the beginning of many of the programs that have "gone to sleep" for the summer. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is one of these programs. If anyone is interested in joining the Catholic Church, or just wants to learn more about their faith, please give Fr. Louis a call at (440) 526-1177 ext. 228 to register for instructions.
