November 3, 2024

During the month of November, it is important for us to pray for the souls in purgatory. Through our Masses, prayers and good works on their behalf, they are brought more speedily to the heavenly kingdom. The second book of Maccabees reminds us that it is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead in order that they be loosed from their sins. Let us especially remember the deceased for whom no one prays. They may be the ones praying for us when our time comes and we find ourselves in their position.

As we prepare as a nation to elect a new president as well as new members of Congress and other elected officials, please be sure to pray to the Holy Spirit before you make your choices and bring your Catholic Values with you to the voting booth, utilizing these as you cast your ballot. We are privileged as Americans to have the right to vote; many nations only dream of this. Let's use this great honor well and not take it for granted so that America can truly remain one nation under God.
