Weekly Principal Notes

December 3, 2023

Welcome to the season of Advent! This is a very special time for students at St. Albert the Great at Assumption Academy. Once the students return from Thanksgiving break, they have a special three weeks in school until Christmas break. During these three weeks there are many activities centered around Hope, and joyful waiting. The students have a "buddy activity" where the students that are paired up (a younger with an older grade) will construct a special Advent cross. Of course, the teachers show the meaning behind the Advent activities, but some of the best learning takes place when the older students work with their younger buddies. These shared experiences are something that everyone looks forward to, and each student is able to take a special item home to continue the learning and conversation with his/her family.

Each family has their own tradition(s) surrounding Advent. Some will use the Advent wreath; some will make a paper chain to count down the days until Christmas. Others will have their own version of an Advent calendar. No matter how you and your family do it, we are all patiently waiting, full of hope, for the coming Prince of Peace.

May God bless you and your family this Advent!
