August 17, 2025

Today we celebrate the 56th anniversary of the dedication of our beautiful church building by Bishop Clearance Isemann on August 17, 1969. Many hands and hearts went into the building of this beautiful edifice, and some of the same hands and hearts come forward to support it today. Many graces come to us and major events of our lives take place there, from baptisms and first communions to weddings and funerals. Most important, however, are the living stones which build up the church and make it a living, breathing body.

It is important that those who say they belong to Assumption church become active in their membership. Your involvement and support are needed to keep our parish alive and well. A few cannot handle the full load; everyone is needed. We as a parish have much to be proud of. Everyone working together helps make our parish the great place it can be. As we ask God to bless us in our families, let us not forget to be blessings to our parish family.

It was good to see so many of you at last Sunday’s Parish Picnic. The weather was hot, but pleasant, and people took time to keep company with one another, relax and enjoy themselves. I would like to express my thanks to the following:

  • To the Picnic Committee of Sean Phillips and his lovely wife Heather, Jack Murrin, Ray Freas, Jane Luke, Roza Hering, and Pat Petkoff.
  • To the Knights of Columbus and Jack Murrin for organizing the Marian Procession as well as those who participated in it.
  • To the volunteers, especially the Faculty and Staff of Assumption Academy who served the picnic fare.
  • To those who set up and dismantled the tents, etc. They were a real blessing in the heat.
  • To Mike and Alice Jo Soinski who sold raffle tickets.
  • To those who financially sponsored the picnic, especially All Saints Federal Credit Union who underwrote the ice cream we served as well as an anonymous donor.

And to all of you who supported this weekend by your participation and especially your support through the purchase and selling of raffle tickets. It is the people of Assumption Parish that make it special. Thanks for a happy and good feast.
